Cars, emails, internet, clothes dryers, washing machines, microwave, air fryer, lalamove…

We invented things that save time. But do we really save time? Or did we just make ourselves responsible for doing more shit?

In this fast paced era, people tend to have some kind of allergy to having blank or empty free time. People turn every free time or empty space into an opportunity.

If you are waiting in line, you browse your phone. Eating? Watch Netflix. Walking? Listen to Spotify. Driving? Vlog your fucking self.

We keep saving time by inventing things that do things faster, and then filling that saved time with more things to do.

Time used to stretch out into long hours where nothing was happening, and people were fine with it. Now, if there’s an empty space and nothing is happening, we treat it as something that needs to be fixed.

Stops were just part of life back then, messages took 2-3 days, if not a week. Everybody understood, and people didn’t need to say “sorry for the late reply”.

For something simple like finding the meaning of a word, it could take hours, if not a day. We had encyclopedias, then Encarta, then search engines, and now what?

Nobody expected us to move this fast back then. The more time we save, the more it becomes another reason we’re expected to move faster too…

But should we?
