Are you familiar with the saying, “Rain is nature’s great equalizer.”?

When you first think about it, you can agree that rain falls neutrally, no rich, no poor, nature simply rains and everyone gets wet. It feels fair. Rain falls on everyone. But when you read and watch news you will see and realize that rain is not a great equalizer rather it reveals the inequality to the society.

Rain feels impartial, like fate, time, death, or even love, BUT the impact is deeply unequal.

Privilege acts as an umbrella, wealth elevates you with balconies, poverty leaves you exposed to every drop.

Some have umbrellas. Some have balconies. Others have nothing but tarp. Rain does not erase status. It exposes it.

It reminds us that in a world build on inequality, even the most universal experiences, like storm, are not shared the same way.

We are all getting wet today, but not equally.

Stay safe everyone!
